Frequently Asked Questions

What You Need to Know

What if I have to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

If you have to cancel please do so at least 48 hours before your appointment. This gives the artist time to book someone else in your time slot. Please be respectful of the artist's time. Please note that deposits are nonrefundable.

I want a tattoo but I’m on a limited budget. How do you determine pricing?

An in person consultation is good to work out such concerns. We can work out a way to simplify your deign to work with in you budget or break up the tattoo in to smaller sessions done over time so you get the piece you really want.

Are Tattoos Safe?

Yes, as long as you go to a reputable artist that is following all recommended safety precautions.

Does getting tattooed hurt?

Pain is really relative. Everyone has a different tolerance for pain. We're not going to kid you, though - it does hurt. Just not that much. Some have compared it to a "hot scratching feeling". But, people would not be returning again and again for tattoo after tattoo if it hurt that bad! Most of us are not into pain, but the beauty of the tattoo and the pride associated with wearing it faroutweighs a little pin-stick here and there.

How much is it going to cost?

All my up to date pricing is listed on my booking page, so everything is up front. I ask that new clients email me to discuss their design so I can give the the best time estimate.  I charge by time and work fast and efficiently.

How many times do you use your needles?

Once and only ONCE. Not only is there a sterilization concern when it comes to cleaning the inside of the hollow piercing needle, but also the needle itself (both piercing and tattoo) dulls noticeably when it is used even once. Therefore, in the interests of everyone involved, we use needles once and then we dispose of them in an appropriate sharps containers.

How long does it take to heal?

As for all things, this differs from person to person, and is directly effected by proper aftercare. Tattoos usually appear healed within a week to 10 days, but may take up to a month to heal completely.

How should I prepare for my tattoo?

Eat! Do not come in with an empty stomach as this can contribute to your becoming light headed. Don't stuff yourself to the point of nausea, of course, but have a little something in your stomach. Do not drink any alcohol or take any drugs 24 hours prior to your appointment. As far as drugs go, do not come in under the influence of anything illegal or anything that could inhibit your decision-making skills. Also, try to avoid aspirin and antihistamines 24 hours prior to your appointment as these tend to thin your blood. For more information, please feel free to contact us.

Is it OK to get a tattoo if I'm sick or pregnant?

Getting a tattoo when your immune system isn't at 100% isn't a good idea. You're going to need your strength and your white blood cells to heal your tattoo, something your body won't be able to do if it's already doing battle against virus and bacteria. Not to mention the fact that it's very inconsiderate to bring your illness into the tattoo studio and risk passing the germs onto others, particularly your artist. If you have an appointment, call and reschedule for when you're feeling well again. If you are pregnant let your artist know at once.

What the policy on touch ups?

Touch up must be requested within 3 months of you  initial tattoo appointment. Please send email with photos of your tattoo, highlighting the spots that need a touch up.

•You do not automatically get a touch up, it is only for clients that need it due to a part of their tattoo not healing correctly.

• There is a fee of $20 for touch up to cover the cost of supplies.  I do not build in the cost of a touch in to your initial tattoo. Not everyone needs a touch up so I would not calculate that in to the cost of everyone’s tattoo as that would not be fair.

•If you are getting another tattoo from me I will touch up your initial tattoo from me at the same time.

• Not covered in a touch up: Changes or add ons, damage from not doing proper after care, sun exposure before the tattoo is fully healed, picking at your tattoo during healing.

Believe me we can tell when you do these things.
